Homegrown Homes now has 27 units of affordable housing, over 100 partnerships, 50 volunteers and hundreds of supporters throughout the community. Homegrown Homes was invited to present our model to affordable housing organizations in New Brunswick to help them address the affordable housing crisis as a non-profit, grassroots organization. Much has been accomplished, but much more remains to be done. With the continued generous support of concerned citizens, Homegrown Homes looks forward to continuing its good work in our community.

HOW YOU CAN HELP WELL-DESERVING, LOW-INCOME FAMILIES IN OUR COMMUNITY
Every citizen in our community deserves to have a safe, affordable place to live. There are currently 1,501 families on the Social Housing Waiting List for affordable housing in Peterborough. Therefore, to address the existing need, 240 affordable housing units need to be provided each year for the next 5 years!
WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
Homegrown Homes does not receive any operating subsidy from any level of government. Therefore, we depend on our fundraisers and annual campaign letter for our sustainability, to ensure that we can continue to keep our rents at least 15 percent lower than commercial market rents!
"Municipal governments lack the fiscal capacity to respond effectively to the issues of homelessness and housing affordability." Housing is Fundamental, September, 2010
SUCCESS STORY FROM HOMEGROWN HOMES' TENANTS
The quality of life for all of our tenants has improved significantly because they now have a safe, affordable place to live. Some of our tenants are so appreciative that they go out of their way to help their neighbours by shovelling snow, cutting lawns and generally being helpful to others whenever they can. This is just one of our many success stories to date on how affordable housing can change a person's life for the better. These tenants have even been given honourable mention in our local newspaper for discreetly helping so many people in their neighbourhood.
