  • Chair - Colin MacLeod
  • Colin is a retired producer and manager at the CBC, including several years at the helm of the iconic As It Happens. In addition to membership on the Homegrown Homes Board he served for the maximum time allowable on the Board of Directors of CMHA Peterorough, four years as President. He has been involved in various community projects, including but not limited to the reconstruction of the Ethel Campbell home.

  • Vice-chair - Eric Auliff
  • Eric hails from 'across the pond,' where he was approached by the Canadian military in 1958 to come to Canada as a musician having served 10 years in the British military in the same capacity. Retired from the Canadian Guards and settled in Peterborough in 1965, Eric operated International Curios, a gift store on George Street, for ten years starting in 1967. He also taught and played music locally. Eric began a 30-year career in real estate in 1976, involvement which included the Peterborough Real Estate Board and PHAC as a representative of the real estate board. Eric joined Homegrown Homes in 1998 where he presently holds the position of Vice chair.

  • Secretary - Paula Wagar
  • Paula is a teacher at Trent University and is a member of the Faculty with the Trent School of Education and Professional Learning. Paula is also involved with the Trent International Program in the capacity of ESL Instructor Volunteer. Paula has contributed her time, expertise and considerable passion to Homegrown Homes for 10 years, and has dedicated 25 years of service to Jamaican Self Help, serving on several subcomittees with the organization.

  • John Martyn
  • John is a retired educator. For many years, he has been an active volunteer in areas of affordable housing and poverty. Currently, besides being on the Board of Homegrown Homes since 1998, John serves in a similar capacity with the Community Foundation of Greater Peterborough, is a member of the Affordable Housing Action Committee and serves as vice-chair of the Peterborough Poverty Reduction Network.

  • Janice Williams
  • Janice is a Sales Representative for Prudential Parkway, with 25 years of service in the real estate industry. Janice also undertakes some property management and brings this experience to our Board, as well as experience in retail. Janice has served on the Board of Directors for PARN for more than 5 years, and is a member of the Homeowners Association of Buckhorn.

  • David Rumball
  • David has been a Board member since 2011, and was our maintenance 'go-to guy' for 2 years before that. He currently serves as Supervisor of Security at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. One of his hobbies is heraldry, or the study of coats of arms. He is currently vice president of the Royal Heraldry Society of Canada, which occupies the remainder of his (rare) free time. Married for over 25 years and a resident of Peterborough for more than three decades, David brings a varied background of military and civilian experience to the Board.

  • Amanda Holmes
  • Amanda is currently working as a Project Manager with the Ministry of Natural Resources. She is trained as a lawyer and worked in Ottawa and Kingston before making Peterborough her home in 2005. Her community involvement has included serving as a Big Sister with the Peterborough chapter of Big Brothers and Big Sisters since 2007 and volunteer work with the Lakefield Animal Welfare Society (LAWS). Amanda joined the Board of Homegrown Homes in March 2012.

    Co-founder & Ex-Officio:
  • Henry Clarke
  • Mr. Clarke is a co-founder, with the late Bill Harrington, of the Peterborough Community Housing & Development Corporation (PCHDC), the forerunner to Homegrown Homes. He currently remains as a volunteer with Homegrown Homes, as well as vice chair of Kawartha Food Share, serves as a board member of St Joseph at Fleming long term care facility, and deputy mayor of the City of Peterborough. Mr. Clarke is Past Commanding Officer of the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment, and Canadian Armed Forces (Reserve). Employed for 36 years at PepsiCo Canada (Quaker Oats), Mr. Clarke serves as a production planner with the firm.

    Volunteer-at-large and webmaster:
  • Gordon Gibb
  • Gordon is a Peterborough-based author, writer, broadcaster and public address announcer who also operates a writing and voiceover enterprise from his home. A past member of the Homegrown Homes board, Gordon has previously volunteered with the United Way of Peterborough & District, Cops 4 Cancer (Pedal for Hope), the Peterborough Theatre Guild, and has lent his time to a myriad of community events in his role as a media personality with 100.5 KRUZ FM. A former Rotarian, Gordon has a particular sensitivity to the need for affordable housing.
